The University of Texas Arlington unveils massive project for Athletics programs
The University of Texas Arlington is changing its outlook with the addition of several new buildings, the center of which is the new College Park Center. With a roof that points like one large finger, people are definitely going to stop and see what is happening in college life.
The most prominent feature up close is the large windows that bathe game goers with natural light as they enter the stadium. Come game night, there are two lower sections of seating plus additional seating further up in the stands, ensuring all comers can get in on the action.
Although most stadiums suffer from view problems when spectators sit further to the back, the center has been designed to make all feel like they are in the middle of it all. The university spent around $1.2 million on the Daktronics Video Board that takes up center stage, allowing all who attend to be in the middle of the action.
With the additional 20 acre retail/living site coming along nicely, the entire project is looking like it will be a great attraction for fans. Once the project has been finished, fans will be able to enjoy the surrounding area before and after the games. There are high hopes for the whole development, as students and teachers hope to bring the university back to center stage in terms of both quality of education and of course a hard hitting basketball program. Some are even hinting that it could be a good indicator for UTA to regain its football program, which was cut in 1985 due to a lack of fan support.
Once completed, the project is set to be a revitalizing factor for the whole of the down town area, something which the locals are more than happy about. If the impact on the community was not enough, UTA is hoping that the College Park Center will put them back on the sporting map as well.
